Kenneth James Curtis, 85, a lifelong resident of the Centralia area passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his family On Sunday July 22, 2018. He was born June 19, 1933 in Centralia General Hospital.
Ken graduated from Rochester High school in 1951 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Centralia College. He retired as program manager of the Webster State Forest Nursery, Tumwater in 1996 after a 44 year career with the Department of Natural Resources. Ken enjoyed travelling with Wendy and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his constant companion and best friend of 40 years Wendy Ufer, son David and Peggy Curtis, of Seattle, son Kevin Curtis of Lacy, daughter Michelle Shelton of Rochester, Sister Carol Gehrman of Bothell, five Grandchildren and his beloved dog Peaches.
He was preceded in death by his father Oliver James Curtis, mother Mary R. Gehrman, Step Father Ted E. Gehrman, Sister Delores Jean Levine and his former wife Maryann Curtis.
There will be a viewing at Newell Hoerling’s Mortuary on Thursday July 26, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. There will be a graveside service at Mt. View Cemetery on Saturday July 28, at 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at Swede Hall in Rochester.
