Florence Catherine Rakoz passed away on December 13th, 2018 at the age of 101.
Florence was born April 23rd, 1917 in Ankerton, Alberta, Canada to Jean and Margareta Konrad Brausen. Florence accompanied her mother to Chehalis, WA to visit her grandparents in the late 1930's. Florence met her husband Matthew Rakoz during this visit and she decided to stay. On February 14th, 1941, Florence and Matthew (Matt) were married at the Cowlitz Prairie Mission. Soon after marriage, they purchased a farm in the Little Hanaford Valley just east of Centralia. During their lifetime on the farm, they developed an award winning herd of Holstein dairy cattle. Florence became s U.S. Citizen on October 4th, 1945.
Florence loved to play cards, was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, and enjoyed being a member of St. Catherine's Circle. After retiring, Matt and Florence enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, China, and Europe as well as many vacations into Canada and Minnesota to visit relatives.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Matthew, her Brothers; Tony, Vic Leonard (Len), and Gilbert as well as her sisters; Hilda and Laura.
Florence is survived by her children; Regina Wilkins (Dean) of Leavenworth WA, Nadyne Tauscher of Centralia, Kenneth Rakoz of Olympia, and Lavonne (Ron) Wiley of Courtenay, BC Canada. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Annette Tauscher and Aaron Rakoz of Chehalis, Catherine Corkum of Vancouver Island, Patricia Krempster of Prince George BC, and Gerald Wiley of Campbell River, BC Canada. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Nina of Olympic Health Care of Centralia and Hospice for their excellent care of mother.
A private burial will be held at the Cowlitz Prairie Mission on January 4th at noon.
