Edwin Eugene LaPine was born Aug. 9, 1929, to Frank and Vera Ayers LaPine in Morton, Wash. He passed away peacefully Oct. 30, 2018, at Oakwood Haven Adult Family Home in Centralia, Wash.
Edwin spent the early years of his life in Onalaska until 1942, before moving to Chehalis, Wash., with his parents. He graduated from W. F. West High School in 1949. On Sept. 1, 1951, Barbara Ann Baldwin became his bride. They were married at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Reverend Alfred Knudsen officiating. Edwin was in the United States National Guard for nine years and worked for Perry Brothers for 39 years before retiring in 1990. His favorite things to do were hunting, fishing and working in his yard.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vera LaPine; his wife, Barbara; and many aunts; uncles; and cousins.
He is survived by four children, Dennis (Patti) LaPine, Kimberly (Richard) Toczko, Tammy Almond and Lori (Jerry) Ayers of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Heidi (Jason) Johnson, Heather (Dustin) Boire, Emily Toczko, Joseph (Angelica) Toczko, Jeremy (Whitney) Almond, Christine Almond, Jamie (Josh) Hutfles, Tiana Ayers and Ian Ayers; seven great-grandchildren, Shelby and Peyton Johnson, Beau Boire, Aubree Toczko, Travis Clevenger, Jeffery Almond, Maddy Breckel, Adley Rey Almond who is due any time now, and Mason Hutfles.
A family viewing will be held at 10 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Newell-Hoering's Mortuary in Centralia. An interment will follow at the Claquato Cemetery in Chehalis.
