Bonita Frances Unzelman

Bonita France  Unzelman, 83, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2017. Bonita (Bonnie) was born to Bertrand and Esther Sparhawk in Buena, Washington on February 22, 1934. Bonnie attended various schools before graduating from Centralia High School in 1951. She married Glen Charles Unzelman just after graduation in 1951 and they spent 66 wonderful years together. They had three children, Steven Glen, Larry Charles (Denise) and Kathy Diane (Mark) Hoffman.

Bonnie was employed by Lewis County for 26 years, 17 years in the Treasurer’s Office and 9 years in the Public Works Department. They had a farm for most of their years together which was a big part of their lives. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Chehalis Food Bank and the Chehalis School District reading program.

Bonnie was a lifelong and faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chehalis. She was always willing to help out when and where needed.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Bertrand and Esther, son Steven (infant), four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Glen, son Larry (Denise) Unzelman, daughter Kathy (Mark) Hoffman. Grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Unzelman, Evan (Bradie) Unzelman, Kevin (Raychel) Hoffman, Allen (Brittany) Unzelman and Kelsey Hoffman. Great grandchildren, Mariah Unzelman, Grace Hoffman, Finley Unzelman, Landon Unzelman, Isabella Unzelman and Gwen Unzelman. 

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., August 8, 2017,  at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chehalis, Washington.
