Donald Anderson Obituary

Donald R. Anderson, 92, died February 9th in Centralia, WA. He was born May 27, 1931 in Bucoda, WA to William and Gina Anderson as the youngest of six. He attended elementary and secondary schools in both Bucoda and Tenino and went to Centralia High School. After graduating, Don joined the US Air Force and always told great stories of  his tour in England. He married Beverly McGill in 1955 and they raised 5 children in the Centralia area. Don’s family was always the center of his life. He and Beverly were married for 62 years, until her passing in 2017. He mourned her death, and that of his two oldest children, Lisa Anderson (2010) and Martin Anderson (2011). Don is survived by three children, Gregory (Sheila) Anderson, Ardel (Dan) Chisholm and Lori Nuest. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Don was a hardworking man throughout his life, first as a timber scaler, then a business owner in the early 1970s, and finally as a timber logger until he retired in 1982. After retirement Don attended Centralia College, where he earned his Associate Degree.

Throughout his life, Don was a great outdoorsman, loving hunting, clamming and fishing, as well as foraging for wild berries. He also tended a large home garden and orchard well into his 80s. He was always generous with his bounty and was known to bring bags of produce and flowers to local bank tellers and grocery clerks as a show of thanks. This is just one example of the many ways he touched the hearts of others throughout his life. He will be missed by many.
