Viola was born in McPherson, Kansas on May 13, 1929 to Erich and Matilda (Kopper) Guhr. During her high school years Viola lived in Dighton, Kansas and excelled in high school; graduating in 1947 as her class salutatorian.
August 3, 1947 Viola (Vi) married William (Bill) Sharp; also of Dighton. Bill and Vi remained in Dighton for their first five years farming the Sharp family farm, eventually moving to Colorado where Bill began his contractors business building custom homes.
In 1962 the couple moved to Oakville, Washington so they could be closer to Bill’s brother. Here they raised seven children: John (Lyn), Ron, Stan, Shari, W. Dane (Carla), Lory, and Erica Jo (Luke).
Vi was active in the Oakville United Methodist Church, PTA, Grange, Athletic Association, and her Bridge Club; not to mention being a wife and mother of seven children.
In 1972 the couple moved to Lebanon, Oregon where Vi started a successful career in Real Estate Sales, owning her own business for fifteen years.
In 1987 Bill and Vi moved back to Oakville to be closer to their children and grandchildren (15) – great grandchildren (18) and great-great grandchildren (2).
In 1995, after forty nine years of marriage, Bill passed away. Vi remained in Oakville, being an active community member at the local food bank, senior lunch program, the Oakville city council, Bridge Club, Cruiser, and the Oakville United Methodist Church.
Vi’s faith in our Lord God remained steadfast and true; she was at peace with going to join the Lord and took her journey home on July 13, 2017 with family and friends by her side.
