Susan Louise (Hickman) Fordyce

A lifetime resident of Centralia, Susan peacefully passed away surrounded by her daughters, on July, 4th. Susan was born in Chehalis, WA, to Kenneth and Mildred (Malnerich) Hickman, June 30, 1944, the oldest of three girls. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Centralia High School. After graduation, Susan enlisted in the U.S. Army-Women’s Army Corps (WAC). After an honorable discharge she returned to Centralia and began working at the Churchill Glove Factory. In 1966, Susan began her career at the WA State Department of Licensing as a key punch operator. Through the years while raising her family she attended Centralia College and retired as an accountant after over 25 years of dedicated service.

 

Susan was not one to sit idle. She graduated from Beauty School with her manicurist license. Then went back to college to obtain her Pharmacy Technician license and worked at the Medicine Shoppe, where she reconnected with past friends and made new ones.  She loved being able to help people and contributing to the community through her work, bingo, the Moose and active participation in the Catholic Church. Susan enjoyed reading, shopping, watching baseball and spending time with her family traveling the US from trips to Disney World, Disneyland, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Iowa, Branson, Lincoln City, WA beaches and secret trips to the casinos with her mother/best friend.

 

Susan is preceded in death by her father Kenneth Hickman. She is survived by her mother, Mildred Hickman; her daughters Stephanie (Nally) Tax (Ted) and Angelique Nally; her sisters Dianna Chappell (Harvey) and Judy Riker (John Strunks); two grandchildren and four great-grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 11:00am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 N Washington Ave, Centralia, WA. Also, a Vigil Service (Rosary) will be Tuesday, July 21, at 7:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Susan will be remembered as a kind, loving and dedicated daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who always put others before herself.
