Welcome to the memorial page for

Lois Littleton

September 7, 1930 ~ January 15, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Lois Littleton

Lois Littleton, 86, a lifetime resident of Onalaska, went to be with the Lord Jan. 15, 2017. She spent the past remaining years in her home under the loving care of her daughter, Judi Chandler, and the angels from Hospice and Elder Care.

Lois was born September 7, 1930 in Onalaska to Frank and Margaret Extine. She grew up in the family oil and petroleum business which supplied all of Lewis County for decades. Upon graduation from Onalaska High School, Lois married Gene Littleton. They were happily married for 63 years until his death in 2014.

During the early years of their marriage, Lois faithfully supported her husband while he served in the Marine Corp; once Gene was out of the service, they opened and operated a Flying A gas station and later expanded as a tire and accessory supplier. It was during this time that Lois and Gene started their family, and frankly, was the beginning of a storybook life to those who knew her. Lois touched many lives. Never known to say a “cross word,” she brought love and compassion to all she knew. All ages were drawn to her, and she to them. Her home always smelled of freshly baked goodies, and was a frequent stop for those seeking a smile and a hug.

A key element in Lois’ life was her love for the Lord. For years, she held Bible studies in her home every Wednesday.  She also taught Sunday school, and Summer Bible School at the Onalaska Presbyterian Church where she was a member for over 40 years. When Lois was not in church, she was crafting! She loved to crochet, sew, and quilt…and do crafts with her grandchildren. And somewhere in the midst of it all, Lois deeply loved the Sonics! She dearly missed her Sonics when they left town.

To her family, Lois was always supportive. Her son, Dave Littleton, was a teacher and coach at Tumwater High School for 18 years. Lois frequently assisted Dave wherever possible including the years he was the newspaper advisor. She ran errands for the class, but was most notably remembered for arriving at school with dozens of donuts for the students as a treat for “press day” each month. While coaching, Dave’s teams also benefited from the support that Lois provided whether it was team uniform hangers or food.

Lois is survived by her son, Dave Littleton and wife Megan of Olympia; daughter, Judi Chandler of Onalaska; sisters Mary Myer (John) and Cora Smith (Bill) of Onalaska; and grandchildren, Chris Chandler, Madi Littleton, Maya Littleton, and Tara Littleton.

A celebration of Lois life will be held Jan, 28th, 2017, at 1 PM at the Onalaska Presbyterian Church, 288 Carlisle Ave., Onalaska. Family service by Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary of Centralia. For on-line guestbook visit www.newellhoerlings.com.
