Josephine Lee

June 26, 1928 ~ October 8, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Josephine (Jo) Lee passed away on Oct. 8th, 2016 after a courageous and long fight of several debilitating illnesses.  She was born on June 26th, 1928 in Cottonwood, SD to Joseph and Evelyn Perrott.  The family moved to the Washington area in 1934 and lived in Castle Rock, Toledo, Chehalis and eventually on Lincoln Creek near Rochester.  It is there that Josephine met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Lee. They were married in 1946 and were able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in January before Dick passed away suddenly in June.

Surviving family members are children Jerry Lee, Centralia; Karen Oswald and husband, Ken, Lake Tapps, WA; Linda Laughlin, Maricopa, AZ; and Robert (Bob) Lee and wife, Patsy, Boistfort, WA.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  She is also survived by brothers Joe Perrott, Bucoda; Martin Perrott, Chehalis; and sister Aletha Higgins, Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Josephine was preceded in death by sister, Vangel and brothers, Harold and Leo.

While her children were small, Josephine was a stay-at-home mother keeping busy as room mother, den mother and scout leader.  She then worked seasonally at Sherwood Forest before retiring after 15 years at the Weyerhaeuser Littlerock Tree Nursery.

Family was the single most important part of Josephine’s life.  Along with her husband, Dick, they loved to participate and follow the activities of their children and grandchildren – going camping, hiking, back packing, hunting, clam digging and following ballgames and equestrian events.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning the bounty of her garden, playing cards, RVing with Dick, particularly to the Southwest, cruising and traveling.  Favorite locations were Hawaii, Bora Bora, New Zealand, Australia, and Hong Kong.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Linda Amondson-Muller and her staff at Logan Street Manor II for the loving and compassionate care Josephine received while under their care.

A memorial service will be held at Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary on Friday, Oct 21st at 2 pm.  Reception to follow.
